Three Great Places in West Michigan

Pentwater Michigan

Pentwater Michigan is the home of Mears State Park. Mears State Park is located right on Lake Michigan with numerous campsites right on the beach. You can climb Old Baldy and enjoy the panoramic view of Lake Michigan. Hundreds crowd the beaches and piers to enjoy the most beautiful sunset that Michigan has to offer.

 

Pentwater is a small community with one main road leading through town. I recommend bringing your bike and not starting your car until it’s time to leave. The main street is pedestrian friendly and has many restaurants, shops, ice cream parlors, and pubs. At the beginning of Main Street, the marina houses many large boats and along the harbor there are many fishing charter companies. Enjoy a morning or afternoon fishing excursion on Lake Michigan.

 

A short drive from Mears state park you can visit Bass Lake or AJ’s mini golf and go cart. A little longer drive you get to the larger city of Ludington which also has a beautiful beach along Lake Michigan.

Gun Lake Michigan

Gun Lake is located between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo. Gun Lake is an all sports lake with many attractions and recreational activities. Fishing is a very common activity on Gun Lake. The lake is home to Northern Pike, Walleye, Bass, Perch, and many other species. The southeast corner of the lake is a prime area for northern pike.
