Nice for Travel. Uncomfortable Grip.,
I bought this version liking the small size – it seemed easy to travel with, especially with the included blue, transparent, hard, plastic case. And it is. However – I don’t care for how the razor feels in my hand. Especially when shaving my pits. The way it sits in my hand is awkward and I usually wind up with at least one cut from it. (This from someone who has been shaving for about 30 years and could easily navigate a razor in the dark.) It’s better when I use it on my legs…but who is going to use two razors?? Not this gal! Since it is interchangeable with other Venus and Mach3 blades, it’s easy to replace the blade with whatever Venus blade you prefer. (Or to share the small size with your man and his Mach3 blades, but I don’t know a man alive who would choose this over a full sized razor. The traveling convenience is just not worth the handling discomfort.) I am giving it to my daughter to see if she prefers this compact hair slicer. I’ll stick to the full size Venus handle, thanks.
PS – If you have trouble with razor burn or folliculitis, I have had great success with Venus razors and the pink Skintimate Shave GEL. I don’t know why, but I know it’s kept razor burn at bay for me, since I started using the two together. Changing razors (or blades, to be more specific) results in the painful folliculitis bumps coming back. Changing shaving gel brings back the same problems. I had folliculitis for years – it was so bad I had a prescription for topical erythromycin ever since I began shaving at 13. It was painful and probably “at the root” (haha) of why I detest shaving. However, those issues disappear when I use a Venus razor and the pink Skintimate Gel. I don’t know what it is about the gel, but it works better than the cream. I’m serious. If you struggle with stuff like that, try it!
On a tangent…Shaving just seems like a waste of time – I have long legs and it takes me a good 10-15 min to shave them. For what? So they can be stubbly the very next day and I can repeat the time-wasting, painful experience?? Ugh! I had gone with Dollar Shave Club once…BAD idea! Their stuff doesn’t even remotely compare to the awesomeness of the Venus. It was like shaving with my grand dad’s razor from the ’70s! (Yes, like using his razor from the 1970s. A 40-ish year old razor blade. Unfortunately.)

Perfect for travel, but perhaps not ideal for some.,
For slipping into my toiletries while flying, this does the trick. It’s a basic cartridge razor with a hard plastic case. The case looks big at first, but it’s rather slim and takes up about as much room as a bar of soap in your bag. I had no problems taking it as a carry on item, and no issues with TSA security on two flights so far. I did not find the compact handle difficult to use and had entirely forgotten how quick shaves could be with a cartridge when I can zoom over my body quickly. It works fine with my frou frou shaving creams though it did seem get some minor blade clogging with the thicker creams like (Geo F. Trumper Coconut Cream).
This takes other Venus heads as replacements for when the razor dulls. I will keep a small pack of replacements in my closet for when I do bring this item with me.
But, like all cartridges, multiple passes are needed, I get wicked irritation (sensitive skin), and the blade dulls very quickly. However, for most people this item would be a 5 star, easily. For special snowflake, delicate skinned pains in the a$$ like me, this is not ideal but it IS perfect for travel. Especially on shorter trips so my skin doesn’t take a huge beating.
Also, Venus, come on, why so much pink?
Ultimately, I would recommend this even if it’s not quite your shaving cup of tea. It’s compact size and ease is no joke.
